At the beginning in particular, you are often faced with the question: which hose is the right one for me? How important are food-safe silicone hoses? Do they actually take on the flavour of the tobacco smoked at some point? We will try to shed some light on this for you.

Silicone hoses:

Classically, hookahs in most bars are served with silicone hoses. This is because different flavours are usually smoked in the pipes. Accordingly, a hose is needed that does not take on aromas. Silicone can easily be rinsed through and does not take on flavours. So you can smoke double apple first and then grape-mint in one pipe as you please. When using silicone hoses, though, bear in mind that you should rinse them through regularly. This is more hygienic on the one hand and prevents flavours from settling in on the other.

Traditional hoses:

As you probably know from holidays or from traditional pipes, some people smoke with goatskin hoses. Manufacturers such as Elmas are known for their high-quality leather hoses. The material has the advantage of cooling the smoke even better in a natural way. Such hoses are also used in bars for smoking a single flavour. Mostly made of artificial leather, these hoses are better suited to being broken in with one flavour.

Leather hoses:

Manufacturers such as Wookah, by contrast, offer a mixture of both. These hoses have a silicone interior but are covered with leather. On the one hand this has the advantage of a stylish look, while on the other the hoses can be rinsed through without any problem, which prevents the flavour from settling in.

Soft-touch vs. smooth silicone hoses:
